Hey everyone! I just purchased my first home and to my surprise and excitement, the previous owner had installed a home audio system throughout the house. It has 4 zones ( 1 speaker in the bedroom, 2 in the living room, 2 speakers in the basement and 1 outdoor speaker in the backyard). I was given no information about this as it was never even mentioned when considering the house! It seems to be controlled by in wall controls placed in each zone, pictured below.
The Nuvo Simplese amp has RCA inputs, which is a little old school, I actually have an old CD player using RCAs but having to run into the electrical room and change discs seems a little ineffective. I'd love to connect it to a spotify/Apple Music account. I am already used to the google ecosystem, as in my previous apartment I had some basic wifi bulbs. as well as a Nvidia Shield connected to a smart Vizio tv which were all mostly connected and controlled using Google assistant .
My ultimate goal is to make the entire system work by voice:
-Play spotify using google assistant on the home system (ex. "hey google, play 'Never gonna give you up' on home system)
– More specifically decide which zone ( ex. "Hey google, play music on zone 3 )
– Change the source, if possible between the 4 available RCA inputs available (one for spotify, one for radio)
My initial idea was to buy a chrome cast audio device but they dont sell them any more!! on ebay some were going for 150$!! I have a spare hdmi chromecast 4k Google sent me once, so I thought id look into getting a hdmi to rca adapter, but I heard mixed reviews on those. Anybody have experience there? Open to any budget friendly ideas!
I am by no means an expert but learn quick and have a medium understanding of smart home tech Hoping to eventually build a budget friendly full smart home. So jumping in to learn as much as I can but I would say this is definitely priority for the moving in process!
